Straight Up Youth

We are the youth of First United Methodist Church in Texarkana, AR. We love Christ and seek to love others with the heart of Jesus. Bible Study, Fellowship, Missions, and Worship..where all youth are welcomed and accepted just as they are. Check out what we do each week and decide how YOU would like to grow in your Discipleship with us as we seek to Love God, Love each other, and serve our world.
 
Music Playlist

I compiled a music player so that we can have some music on our website, but I really don't know what everyone listens to, so I put down a bunch of Christian music that I like in the hopes that you guys will either like it or hate it enough to tell me what you want instead. It's pretty much all rock music...sorry, it's the only Christian music I listen to, so it's all I know. If you're a big country or pop fan, just let me or Sandy know who you want on here and I'll get it added.

  News and Up Coming Events!
 
  • We had a wonderful time at the Lock-In on Sept.  if you were unable to attend, hopedfully you can join us next time!!
  • October 19 is Youth Led Sunday.  If you have not signed up to be a part of it, we need your help.  We have speaking and non-speacking parts available.  We need youth who can Acolyte (2), A cross bearer (1) could also help usher.  Ushers (6).  We could still use 3 more speakers. 
  • Sandefur farm Sunday October 19 4:00 pm.  After a great job of presenting a Worship service, we will celebrate at the sandefur Farm.  We will meet at the church at 3:30 please don't be late.  If you are driving to the farm, please let me know.
  • Trunk or Treat - this year the Youth will be hosting the Trunk or Treat as a way to give to the children.  We need Trunks signed up (form above).  We need cakes for the Cake Walk, volunteers for set up and clean up, The youth will need to come around 3:00 pm to help set things up, handbell youth will still attend handbells at 4:30, others youth will stay at trunk or treat.  Be sure to dress up.  This is a big part.  We will also be kicking off the Turkey Smoke so we will need people to man our TURKEY TRUNK , We will have sign up sheets for Turkey Smoke shifts and turkey sales!!!  We are hoping to make this our best year yet!!
  • Turkey Smoke - November 19-23. We will kick of our sales at Trunk or Treat.  We will need lots of volunteers just like last year.  The entire church came together to help with the smoking of turkeys, and we finished early and had a great year,  The money this year will be helping to fund our Youth Ski trip scheduled in March 09.  Be sure to find a youth, sign up for a shift, and buy a turkey!!!
